Proposals put forward by West Craigs Limited for a major new development in west Edinburgh have moved a step closer with the issue of a Notice of Intention last week.

The plans include 1500 new homes, retail units, commercial premises and a new primary school.  Although the Site had been identified for development in the Local Development Plan, the planning application had been refused by the Council due to concerns relating to impacts on the green belt and infrastructure provision.

Following hearing sessions earlier this year, the Reporters have upheld West Craigs’ appeal and determined that planning permission should be granted subject to a section 75 agreement.  The site is the single largest residential scheme in Edinburgh and will make a significant contribution to ongoing housing land supply issues.

Burness Paull have been advising West Craigs Limited on the property and planning aspects of the project, including appearing at the appeal hearings.
