Business Development & Marketing

Our Business Development & Marketing team delivers and executes business development and marketing initiatives in line with firm and divisional strategies. Our team works closely with key stakeholders across the business, with the objective of promoting our firm and winning new business. Areas of specialism include bids, business development, marketing communications, brand & design, digital marketing, client data & insights and events. 

Facilities

Our facilities team plays a crucial role in the business’s day-to-day operations and ensures the lights stay on as well as various administrative tasks. Our facilities team is made up of:

  • Front of House – who are the first point of contact for clients at Burness Paull, organises refreshments for meetings and training and arranging meeting rooms.
  • Mailroom – who are responsible for helping with printing Building Operations
  • Building Operations – ensures that our office buildings operate safely and efficiently.
  • Records Management – ensures that our firm’s and client’s information is organised, accessible and maintained in a way that meets legal, regulatory and operational requirements.

Finance

The Finance team looks after all our financial needs, from billing to collections, client funds transfers, supplier payments and the production of insightful financial analysis to aid decision-making.

HR & Development

HR is responsible for managing our employees’ life cycle with the firm and is dedicated to looking after them from the day they join. Our Talent Acquisition and Graduate Recruitment teams are included as part of the HR & Development function, alongside our HR Business Partners, HR Operations and Wellbeing & Inclusion. 

Information Security

Our Information Security team protects our organisation’s IT infrastructure from vulnerabilities and potential threats. They implement information security systems to protect the information of our employees, clients and suppliers. 

Secretarial 

Our Secretarial team is comprised of a couple of different departments, including our Document Production Unit, Legal PAs and Admin support. The secretarial team help with document creation and formatting, diary and inbox management, new client and matter tasks, risk and finance processes and all scanning and saving – to name just a few.

Legal PAs
Legal PAs tackle a wide range of tasks each day, providing fee earners with the support they need to perform their role and maximise the amount of time they have to spend looking after clients. Legal PAs assist in the smooth running of their fee earners’ day to day workload, with wide ranging responsibilities including diary and inbox management, drafting engagement letters and opening matters, billing and finance tasks, and meeting and travel organisation. Document Production Unit (DPU)
Our Document Specialists are technically skilled in all applications including, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, DocXtools, and StructureFlow, working on all types of documents produced through dictation and mark up, reformatting to house style, converting PDFs to Word, redacting and running comparisons. They play a crucial part in the smooth running of our legal divisions. We’d love to hear from you if you are proficient in Microsoft Office applications and are interested in being part of this supportive and busy team. 

Admin Support
We have two central admin support teams who carry out a range of crucial administrative tasks so that are legal division and business services functions can continue providing an excellent service to our clients.

Our Central Admin Support team works remotely and can work across the firm on tasks that can be carried out despite location, and our Office Admin Support team is an office-based team that carries out tasks that need to be completed in the office. 

Compliance & Risk
As a law firm, we are subject to strict Anti-Money Laundering legal requirements and every solicitor has personal responsibility to adhere to these. Our Compliance and Risk team are on hand to ensure our firm’s policies and procedures are followed.
