The new year brings positive news for couples and families separated due to pending visa applications.
On 9 January 2023, it was announced that those with pending visa applications will be offered the chance to purchase the priority visa service retrospectively. This will allow their applications to be decided within 15 working days from the point of payment of £573 (or its equivalent in the local currency).
This isn’t available to purchase online immediately, but will offered to all applicants in the order that their applications were received. A targeted email will be sent to each applicant when it is their turn. It is recommended to keep an eye on your junk mailbox as well as your standard inbox in order to make sure not to miss anything the Home Office send out.
Not only is this faster than the usual timescale for priority (30 working days) but it is also the first time I’ve seen this offered retrospectively. Given the normal timescale rests at 24 weeks, a faster decision for under £600 will be a worthwhile cost to many who are keen to resume normal family life at the earliest opportunity.
For those who are yet to apply, there is also light at the end of the waiting tunnel. The Home Office are going to reinstate priority service for all new applications in early 2023. A precise date is yet to be confirmed but we will keep you posted.
Here’s wishing the upcoming months bring positive news to families who have endured a difficult period of separation. If you are concerned about the success of your application, or wish to discuss an application you wish to make, please get in touch and I’d be happy to help.
