Burness Paull is proud to sponsor Spectra, Scotland’s Festival of Light, which will illuminate Aberdeen from 8 to 11 February 2024 through a series of free artworks and events across the city.
Now in its 10th year, Spectra will once again see some of Aberdeen’s most iconic buildings and locations transformed and glowing with installations, projections and sculptures to engage and inspire audiences of all ages.
Union Terrace Gardens, Marischal College, and Aberdeen Art Gallery will be amongst the venues taking part. Burness Paull’s support will help bring to life the “Butterfly Dream” exhibit at the Art Gallery, a luminously beautiful installation by artist Anne Bennett which will see a flight of hand-cast and neon-flecked butterflies individually fly above the heads of visitors, reminding people of the beauty in nature and the importance of reconnecting with their own surroundings.
Spectra has a strong focus on sustainability, with last year’s festival having been recognised as Outstanding Cultural Event for 2023 at the Aberdeen and Shire Thistle Awards for its inclusive approach, for example providing breakout spaces for those with additional needs, and for the improvements made to reduce its environmental impact. This year organisers and artists will continue to have energy efficiency, environmental impact and inclusivity at the centre of all activity.
John Strachan, Partner at Burness Paull said: “We are incredibly proud to be supporting the upcoming Spectra programme, especially in this milestone 10th anniversary year. Spectra is truly one of the cultural highlights of the year in the North East, and with the festival taking place right on the doorstep of our new office in Marischal Square, we’re already excited to enjoy the programme alongside local residents and visitors alike.”
Peter Lawson, Chair of Burness Paull added: “As a firm we place real value on creative collaborations and are always looking for fresh new ways to engage with our clients and communities. We take inspiration from the partnerships we create with likeminded organisations, and Spectra’s 10th anniversary theme of “Connections” completely resonates with who we are as a business. Aberdeen is a vibrant, energetic city which will host the festival brilliantly, and bringing together the arts, cultural organisations and the business community to drive economic growth, benefit the local community and champion sustainability is something we’re very proud to be a part of.”
Spectra is delivered by Aberdeen City Council and created in collaboration with local company Live Event Management. Full details of the festival programme will be announced later this month, and you can keep up to date with what’s on here.
