Edward Hunter, a partner in Burness Paull’s market-leading corporate finance team, has been recognised as a rising star in an eminent industry benchmark.

The Lawyer’s prestigious annual Hot 100 list, which it describes as “the crème de la crème of the legal world”, features “the most daring, innovative and creative lawyers” from in-house, private practice and the Bar.

Those included are judged by The Lawyer to have shown the highest levels of excellence and relevance through the impact and contemporary nature of their work. Edward continuously demonstrates both qualities, and more, in abundance and is one of only three Scotland-based lawyers to have made the 2023 list.

Edward, who joined Burness Paull as a trainee in 2010 and was made a partner in August 2022, led two of the biggest deals the firm was involved in during 2022, advising:

• Kings Park Capital and the Harris Family Trusts on their acquisition of The Inn Collection Group, a group of pubs and hotels headquartered in the north-east of England; and
• the Harris Family Trusts on their acquisition of the British seaside resort chain Butlins from Bourne Leisure.

Edward is known for his outstanding service delivery and technical ability, alongside an understated and down-to-earth style. He is a key member of Burness Paull’s corporate finance team that works on transactions across the UK and internationally and has topped the Scottish Business Insider deals table for six years in a row.
