Burness Paull has been named "Professional Advisor of the Year" at the China-Scotland Business Awards 2024.
Organised by the China-Britain Business Council, the awards celebrate trade and investment between Scotland and China, and the significant benefits this brings for the economy.
Held each year to align with both Chinese New Year and Burns Night, the awards bring together the Chinese and Scottish business communities for an evening of networking and celebration at what’s also the largest Chinese Burns Supper.
Awarded for the first time this year, the “Professional Advisory of the Year” accolade is given in recognition of services provided to enable deals and partnerships to take place and flourish.
Headquartered in Scotland, Burness Paull advises clients across the globe. China is a key market for the firm, which regularly advises both Chinese clients doing business in Scotland, and Scottish clients doing business in China on a wide range of issues including on M&A transactions, investments, brand protection and immigration advice. Burness Paull has strong ties with the Chinese business community in Scotland, including collaborating with the Association of Chinese Entrepreneurs in Scotland (ACES).
Peter Lawson, Chair at Burness Paull said: “Supporting the international ambitions of our clients around the globe is central to our business, and we’re very proud of the close relationships we have with the Chinese business community, both in the UK and in China.
Key to our strategy is understanding the commercial aspects that guide each client’s business, ensuring that our legal advice is appropriate and tailored. Our dedicated China Desk enables us to maintain a keen understanding of Chinese matters and provide the best advice to our clients on any activity with a China-related element. To have this recognised at the China-Scotland Business Awards is fantastic.
The awards come at the same time as the beginning of the Year of the Dragon and so for all those celebrating the new year, I wish you good health and happiness.”
