The firm’s annual Christmas Appeal marks the end of a busy year for the Burness Paull Foundation, providing support to local charities in each of our three cities during December.

This year, colleagues generously contributed gifts and monetary donations to Abernecessities in Aberdeen, Age Scotland in Edinburgh, and Glasgow’s Spirit of Christmas. These donations play a vital role in supporting these outstanding organisations as they provide much-needed assistance to those in our communities who could use a helping hand.

Danielle Flecher-Horn, Founder of Abernecessities, said: “The generous support of £500 as well as beautiful gifts we have received for our 'Believe in Magic' Christmas Campaign from the Burness Paull Foundation and their staff is hugely appreciated.

“Thanks to the incredible generosity of AberNecessities' partners, such as yourselves, this campaign will deliver festive joy and create lasting memories for children who might otherwise miss out on the magic of the season. On behalf of local children and families, we thank you once again for believing that no child should go without.”

Katherine Crawford, Chief Executive of Age Scotland, also commented: “These wonderful gifts will be gratefully received by older people in Sutherland, who may not otherwise have much, if anything, under their Christmas tree. It is so sad to think that on many streets across Scotland there will be an older person who doesn’t have anyone else in the life to exchange gifts with. The Burness Paull Foundation and colleagues have been very thoughtful and generous and acts of kindness like this can go a long way in ensuring older people feel valued and less alone. Thank you!

Glasgow’s Spirit of Christmas added: “Big shout out to all the latest businesses and organisations supporting Glasgow's Spirit of Christmas! Our community relies on the support and kindness of individual members, as well as small and big businesses and organisations all coming together once a year to protect and bring the magic and spirit of Christmas to every child on our local children's referral list. Special thanks to the Burness Paull Foundation who have joined us once again to make Christmas a magical time for as many children as we can. Together communities do make a difference!

Teams across our offices also embraced the festive spirit for Save the Children’s Christmas Jumper Day, wearing their best novelty knits and accessories to support this annual campaign. For every colleague who joined in, the Burness Paull Foundation made a donation.

These initiatives wrapped up an impactful 2024 for the Foundation, which donated over £71,000 to 52 charities throughout the year. Highlights include supporting 39 sponsorship applications from colleagues and teams who championed causes close to their hearts. Their inspiring efforts ranged from running marathons and cycling 300 miles to kayaking 78 miles, completing a 50-mile duathlon, and conquering the three peaks challenge. Funds were raised for charities including Maggie’s, Cancer Research, Andy’s Man Club, The Highland Cross, and the Beatson.

The Foundation also backed a variety of firmwide initiatives, such as British Heart Foundation RevivR training, wearing green for the Mental Health Foundation, Show Racism the Red Card, our annual summer school uniform appeal, the Macmillan Coffee Morning, and the Movember campaign. Additionally, we continued to support our long-standing partnership with Street Soccer Scotland, including proudly sponsoring Team Scotland for the 2024 Homeless World Cup in Seoul.

These collective efforts reflect the Foundation’s commitment to making a meaningful difference in our communities.

Jackie Robertson, Foundation Manager, commented: “Supporting so many worthwhile causes throughout 2024 has been truly rewarding, and the enthusiasm and dedication from colleagues has been incredible. The variety of initiatives has showcased the generosity of our team, and I can’t wait to see what new ideas and fundraising efforts the Foundation and colleagues will bring to life in 2025.
