Stewart is an associate in the Funds team. He has experience advising fund/asset managers, depositaries, institutional investors and funds on fund raisings, investments, commercial contracts, and regulatory compliance.
Prior to joining Burness Paull, Stewart worked at a London based law firm before moving to the British Virgin Islands. In the BVI, he advised on the establishment of BVI and Cayman Islands open and closed end funds and provided regulatory advice on the management and operation of such funds.
Stewart’s recent experience includes:
- Advising a UK private equity firm on a series of SPVs to be used in deal structures.
- IPOs and secondary issuances of closed-ended funds listed on the Premium Fund segment of the London Stock Exchange.
- The formation of alternative investment funds in the UK, Luxembourg, the BVI and the Cayman Islands.
- Investments by UK based institutional investors into UK based infrastructure funds.
- Setting up Scottish limited partnerships to be used for a myriad of purposes, including but not limited to carried interest vehicles.
